Real-Time Simulation Models for Powertrain and Vehicle Dynamics
  • Open MATLAB®/Simulink® models
  • Real-time simulation and offline simulation
  • Virtual vehicle simulations with engine, drivetrain, and vehicle dynamics
  • Turn-key solution with dSPACE Simulator

Application Areas
The Automotive Simulation Models (ASM) are open Simulink models for the real-time simulation of standard automotive applications like diesel engine, gasoline engines and vehicle dynamics. The models will typically be used on a dSPACE Simulator for hardware-in-the-loop testing of electronic control units (ECUs) or during the design phase of controller algorithms for early validation by offline simulation. They are complete and independent models that support all the relevant phases of the model-based development process.

Key Benefits
All the Simulink blocks in the model are visible, so it is easy to add or replace components with custom models to adapt the vehicle’s properties perfectly to individual projects. ASM’s standardized interfaces allow models to be easily expanded to meet specific requirements or even create a virtual vehicle. Roads and driving maneuvers can be easily and intuitively created using graphical tools with preview and clear visualization.

Feature Description Benefit

Online simulation Real-time simulation on real-time hardware, e.g., DS1006 Hardware-in-the-loop simulations with production-level ECUs
Offline simulation Simulations as early as the controller algorithm design phase Controller validation in early development stages
Online tunable parameters Direct parameter access during real-time simulations Online parameter optimizations and behavior studies
ASMSignalBus Simulation signals are part of a structured Simulink signal bus Standardized and fast access to model variables
Model interoperability ASM models are easy to combine to create a virtual vehicle An entire virtual vehicle can be simulated
